Sleeper currently only supports leagues with an even number of teams.
If you still want to run a league with an odd number of teams, it is possible, but it requires a workaround and one team slot will remain empty for the season.
We strongly recommend finding one additional manager if possible, but if not, here’s how you can set it up.
Workaround
First, leave one team unassigned so your league reaches the required even number of teams.
As commissioner
Set the draft order and place the empty team last
Before the draft starts:
Open the draftboard
Assign very low-ranked players to every pick for that empty team
These players will act as placeholders so the draft can skip over that team.
Once the draft is complete
Use commish tools in the mobile app to drop all players from that roster
That team will then remain empty for the rest of the season, meaning any opponent facing them will receive an automatic win.
If you do not want automatic wins, commissioners can use the commish tools to manually adjust matchup scores each week. For example, setting both teams to the same score will result in a tie.
We may support odd-numbered leagues in the future, but for now this workaround is required.
Do you support bye weeks?
Since Sleeper requires an even number of teams, regular-season bye weeks are not supported.
The only possible bye weeks are in the first round of the playoffs, depending on your playoff settings.
