Welcome to Picks! Sleeper's peer-to-peer daily fantasy game, where you can win cash competing against other users. For information on where Picks is available, refer to our Where Can I Play? support article.

How to Play

  • To play, build a contest of 2 - 8 players, and predict whether each player will go higher or lower than their statistical projection.

  • Your entry will be placed into a pool of 5,000 contests, where you’ll compete with other Sleeper users to earn the highest “VS Score''. You may view your pool's leaderboard at any point by tapping "Details" on your contest entry slip.

  • Scoring will be based on the outcome of your predictions. You will have the opportunity to accumulate more points by adding additional players to your contest and making higher difficulty predictions. The more predictions you get correct, the higher your "VS Score". Be careful, losing predictions may send your "VS Score" to zero!

Payouts

In Picks, there are two ways to win a payout!

  1. Accumulate the highest "VS Score" in your pool and win 100x your entry fee.

    1. In the event of a tie for 1st place, the 100x multiplier will be split across all 1st place contests. For example, if there are four contests tied for 1st, each would be eligible to receive a 25x payout (100x ÷ 4).

    2. In the event a pool does not contain any winning entries, the 1st place prize will be awarded to the entry that accumulated the highest "VS Score" from their correct predictions, ignoring any incorrect predictions.

  2. Get enough predictions correct and win your contest's entry fee multiplied by your "VS Score". The payout for building a winning contest is guaranteed, regardless of how the other contests in your pool perform. The number of correct predictions needed for a payout is displayed on your entry screen before submission and will change depending on whether you select a "Max" or "Flex" contest.

The payouts from the two methods do not stack. In the event a winning contest finishes in 1st place, the user will receive the higher of the two payout methods.

Payouts for winning contests generally get paid out within 60 minutes of grading, whereas payouts for a 1st place finish will not be paid out until all the contests in the pool are graded.

Pool Types

To maintain fair and equitable gameplay for all types of users, Sleeper classifies users based on experience as beginner, intermediate, or highly-experienced and offers three Picks pool types. At the time of contest submission, eligible users will select a pool type from the options available to them based on their experience level.

  • Regular Pools of 5,000 contests have a 1st place payout of 100x and are available to all users. The maximum entry fee for Regular Pool contests is $500.

  • Intermediate Pools of 20 contests have a 1st place payout of 3x and are not available to highly-experienced users. The maximum entry fee for Intermediate Pool contests is $1.

  • Beginner Pools of 20 contests have a 1st place payout of 3x and are available to beginner users only. The maximum entry fee for Beginner Pool contests is $1.

Note that one user's contests may never account for more than 5% of an individual pool's entries.

Picks Rules and Considerations

Note: The following information is the written policy for Sleeper Picks, and does not apply to any of Sleeper's free-to-play products

  1. To cancel your contest and receive a refund on your contest entry fee, find your contest on the entries page and tap "Free Cancellation". You may only cancel your contest if it meets the three criteria listed below. If you do not see "Free Cancellation" at the bottom of your contest entry, it's because at least one of these cancellation criteria is not being met:

    1. The contest was placed within the past five minutes

    2. The contest does not contain any in-play Picks

    3. The contest does not include any players from games that have started

Note that refunds for canceled contests will be issued in the form of playthrough credit which must be used to enter a completed contest before it may be withdrawn.

You may only cancel a maximum of 5 contests in a 24 hour window

  2. Any contest pick outcome which ties its projection (known as a "push") or involves a player who does not play (DNP) will have that specific pick within the contest entry voided. For contests with three or more picks, the contest will be graded with an adjusted payout as if the DNP player pick was not included. Contests with two picks which include a DNP player pick will be cancelled and refunded. Note that all contests must include at least one player from multiple teams. If a contest entry only has eligible players from one team due to a voided pick, the entire contest entry will be canceled and refunded.

In football, a player is considered DNP if they have zero snaps played. Note that special teams plays DO count towards a player's snaps played count in football.

In basketball, a player is considered a DNP if they have 0:00 minutes played.

In baseball, a batter must be in the starting lineup and get a plate appearance and a pitcher must start (i.e. throw the first pitch for his team), otherwise that batter or pitcher will be considered DNP. Any MLB picks related to a player who comes into a game as a pinch hitter or relief pitcher will be voided. Note that this does not apply to in-game MLB picks.

In hockey, a goalie must start and a skater must be on the ice for >0:00 minutes, otherwise they will be considered a DNP.

  3. Picks related to football, basketball, or hockey games that are cancelled, postponed, or abandoned mid-game will have any specific player projections affected by such respective games within their contest entries voided.

Picks related to baseball games that are played and completed on the originally scheduled date will be graded as normal, even if the game start time is delayed or the game is suspended and restarted mid-game. Picks related to baseball games not started on the originally scheduled date will be voided. Picks related to baseball games started but not finished on the originally scheduled date will be graded as normal if the game is resumed and completed the following day. Picks related to baseball games started but not finished on the originally scheduled date will be voided in the instance that the game is postponed.

Picks voided due to cancelled, postponed, or abandoned games will follow the same grading logic as DNP picks, outlined in Rule #4. Similar to any player projections involving a player who does not play (DNP), all contests must include at least one player from multiple teams; accordingly, if a contest entry only has eligible players from one team due to a voided pick(s) because of a cancelled, postponed, or abandoned game, the entire contest entry will be canceled and refunded.

In the event of a shortened game where the game results are official and final, all contest picks will be graded as normal, based on player statistics accumulated in the shortened game.

  4. Upon the conclusion of a game, the updated results of your contest entry may take 15 - 60 minutes to be reflected.

  5. Contest entries may not include multiple predictions (or “picks”) related to the same player.

  6. Statistical totals include statistics accumulated in overtime or extra innings, when applicable.

  7. Please note that Sleeper only uses stats provided by trusted third-party providers. We will not adjust contests based on alternative sources for scoring, including but not limited to video recordings.

  8. Live stats on Sleeper are for entertainment purposes only, and are not designed to be an official scorekeeping tool. Live stats shown are subject to change. Any inconsistencies with scoring will be settled after the game based on official data from Sleeper's third-party providers.

  9. Occasionally, Sleeper's third-party data providers will make official stat corrections after a game has completed. If the official stats are corrected within 30 minutes of the game ending, contests will be regraded to reflect the updated stats. However, if the official stats are corrected 30 minutes or more following the conclusion of the game, the initial stats and contest grading will stand.

Note: In addition to the reasons above, Sleeper reserves the right to void, change, or remove any pick at its sole discretion.
